JOB DESCRIPTION :

Job Summary:
Responsible for smooth running and maintenance of day to day laundry and linen-uniform room operations in compliance with brand standards. Adheres to brand standards and ensures compliance. Is responsible for quality guest experience and employee engagement. Provides support to the Assistant Laundry Manager in housekeeping and laundry related functions as well as aspects such as training, coaching, counseling, mentoring, appraisals, effective inter-departmental liaison and wastage reduction. Maintains a pleasant demeanor within and outside the department.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Is well versed with company and hotel information.
  • Assists the Assistant Laundry Manager in running all aspects of the department smoothly including manpower management, preparation of budgets, finalizing contracts, inter departmental liaison, recruitment, vendor management and purchasing functions.
  • Appraises Assistant Laundry Manager with all information/concerns pertaining to hotel, department, guest, employees or vendors.
  • Aware of all brand standards especially pertaining to linen and uniform.
  • Ensures smooth running of day to day operations in compliance with brand standards.
  • Meet and aims to exceed expectations of the customers on a daily basis.
  • Supervises and manages employees.
  • Understands employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence.
  • Understands and communicates importance of safety and security procedures and ensures compliance with all processes and procedures.
  • Assists the Assistant Laundry Manager in preparing and meeting budgets and operating statements required for financial management of the department.
  • Assists the Assistant Laundry Manager in preparing, communicating and monitoring the workflow to minimize delays in operations.
  • Ensures all areas/team members of the department have requisite aids, tools, supplies and equipment to carry out operations smoothly and effectively.
  • Eliminates wastage and manages finances to achieve/exceed budgeted goals.
  • Works in close coordination with engineering and finance for laundry equipment maintenance needs and reports any lapses immediately.
  • Conducts departmental meetings in the absence of the Assistant Laundry Manager.
  • Reads, signs and updates the log book.
  • Reports 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled time of briefing/debriefing/meetings.
  • Is well groomed at all times of the day.
  • Collects and signs-in/out for keys and mobile.
  • Assists the Assistant Laundry Manager in developing and following up consistently for all AMC and related requirements.
  • Suggests incorporation of new technology, supplies and equipment whenever appropriate.
  • Assists the Laundry Manager in scheduling daily/weekly/monthly/spring cleaning and maintenance activities for the department and ensures compliance.
  • Practices effective inventory management and ensures minimal wastage/dead or non-moving stock.
  • Records all laundry related reports, forms and formats for referencing.
  • Responsible for issuing and maintaining inventory/discard of linen and uniform according to standard operating procedures
  • Assists the Assistant Laundry Manager in planning and conducting periodic inventories and discard processes keeping in mind occupancy patterns and item/manpower availability.
  • Aware of occupancy patterns and banquet functions atleast 24 hours in advance to ensure availability of linen and uniform.
  • Ensures good liaison and communication within and outside the department for smooth operations.
  • Assists the Assistant Laundry Manager in ordering and checking quality and quantities of all items (linen and uniform related) being received in liaison with finance.
  • Ensures par levels are maintained in operations.
  • Ensures enough availability (with minimum dead stock) of store items and replenishes as deemed necessary.
  • In the event of a complaint, ensures immediate corrective action or appraises superiors to ensure immediate action.
  • Ensuring safety, security and privacy of all areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining records as per area of work.
  • Follows the standard operating procedures and trains subordinates as and when required.
  • Actively participates in the cost control procedure and ensures full cooperation in the same.
  • Carries out KRA’s effectively.
  • Ensures all laundry related areas are properly secured and effective key control procedures are followed by employees.
  • Assists the Assistant Laundry Manager in coordinating with vendors to ensure smooth functioning of services.
  • Assists the Assistant Laundry Manager in recruitment, promotions or dismissals.
  • Plans the monthly duty roster for entire team considering occupancy/functions/leaves/offs/requests and forwards it to the Assistant Laundry Manager for approval.
  • Tracks employee attendance and takes corrective action pertaining to lapses in consultation with the Assistant Laundry Manager.
  • Rewards, recognizes and takes disciplinary action against employees in consultation with the Assistant Laundry Manager.
  • Suggests and assists in implementing procedures to enhance departmental productivity and employee ownership.
  • Is well versed and knowledgeable of brand, fire and evacuation procedures and health and safety requirements in the workplace.  Ensures associates are aware of their duty of care as determined by legislation and that they maintain complete familiarity.

  • Ensures compliance with all relevant workplace health and safety standards and related hotel and brand policies and procedures.
